Cleo jumped high into the air and grabbed onto the monkey bars. He pulled himself up and sat himself down on top of them. He turned his himself to face the horizon to see the sunset. It was a lovely summer day quickly changing itself to a lovely summer's evening. Cleo had spent the entire day at the park. He woke up at six in the morning and ran to the park. The only time today he left was to eat and go to the washroom. He couldn't remember if he told Charles or William where he was going, but they'll understand.. For it's SUMMER! The greatest time to just goof off and forget any worry you ever had!
The golden sun was almost gone, and all could be really seen was the oranges and purples it left behind. Cleo smiled. "What a glorious day, to have ever struck me with it's presence." He softly said. Cleo acted like an eight year old and times but really was eighteen. Odd enough. Cleo hopped off the monkey bars losing attention in the sunset. Cleo threw his sweater on and zipped it up. Once the sun was gone, the warmth was gone. But Cleo didn't want to lave the park, he had so much fun here today. "HELLO! OUT THERE!!!" Cleo shouted and waited for a response. He hared nothing but the sound of the wind. "Oh well. looks like there's no creepers hanging out. I guess I can stay out a little longer."
Cleo ran and jumped onto one of the swings. He sat himself down and started to push himself high up into the atmosphere. "WEEEEEE!" He exclaimed. He actually wished that someone would come to the park, then he could have someone to play with. They could play well to midnight and talk like crazy. "Anybody out there want to play?"

"What do you want to play?" Riley had never seen the strange boy who was on the playground every before. He did not know why he answered in fact after he had asked his question he contemplated running. He had been at the library most of the day. Riley was not a fan of the sun, he liked the evening and night time even though he sleeps though hafe of it.
Aside from the Strange Boy Riley could see no one else in the park so he desided to stay. "What do you want to play?" He asked to boy again. "Please don't say Grounders, I really suck at that game."
As he got closer he relized that the Boy was a human. * Thats weird* He thought to himself * Most hgumans do not stay out past dark for fear of Vampires* Riley questioned weather it was safe to trust that the human was not hunting Vampires, not that he had a problem with that but Riley didn't like trouble in fact he tryed to avoid it as much as Demonly possible.

Cleo continued his merry way of swinging when an odd looking boy caught his eye! "Holy gushy socks!" He exclaimed. Someone had heard his call to come play! Cleo skidded to a halt on the swing set and jumped off. "You want to play?" Cleo clapped his hands together. Not too many boys around his own age wanted to play with him, it was always the smaller kids who ever wanted to play with him. "It's nice to meet you!" Cleo bounded around his new found friend.
"My name's Cleo, Cleo Brian Lorence. " Cleo grabbed hold of the boy's hand. "Come on! I want to show you something!" Cleo drug the boy across the park to an open grassy area. "Watch this! I just learned how to do this today!" Cleo let go of the boy's hand and pepped himself up. He quickly flipped himself over and landed on his hands. "Ta-dah! I can even walk on my hands!" Cleo put one hand in front of the other but his body didn't follow and ended up falling flat on his face. "OW!" Cleo whined.
After a few seconds of feeling sorry for himself on the ground, he shot back up. "Okay I got an idea! Let's play tag!" Cleo poked the boy ever so softly, "And your it!" Cleo ran away giggling, and hoping that the boy would actually chase him.

Riley stood confused for a couple of seconds. He always thought tag was a little kids game, then again he had always love running around so he chased after the boy. Being as short as he was Riley was not a very fast runner. Being 5'4 means that your legs arn't very long buthbe made due with what he had.
Thie Cleo character was a really fast runner, Suddenly Riley got an idea. He changed dicections and tride to cut Cleo off. It worked, he taged Cleo and ran as fast as he could in the other directon yelling "Your It!" Just then Riley relized that he had never introduced himself. This brief distraction caused him to run head on into a tree.
CRASH! Riley hit the grownd with a loud THUD. "Ow," he said loudly " That hurt" He tried to get up but relized that he was still dissy. So, he rold onto his back and started to laugh. He didn't know why he was laughing just thathe couldn't stop. What was Cleo going to think know? Riley sudenly stoped and sat up. "Okay, I'm better I just had a moment their. I'm Riley by the way, Oh and your still IT!" Riley jumped up and ran as fast as he could.

Cleo was aww struck when he got got by the boy! "I'm gonna get you back1" He hollard. He chased after and then watched him hit his Head on a tree. Cleo fell down along with him in laughter. This was hilarious. He had to not look where he was going to do that. "It's nice to meet you Riley!" Cleo stood back up,"And I don't mind that out burst of laughter! It makes me smile." Cleo looked back to the tree but Riley had already started to run away. "Hey!" Cleo called. He swiftly ran through the trees and flowed the boy to an open field full of tall grass.
Cleo looked around and saw Riley's head bobbing along. "Found you!" Cleo pounced and landed on Riley. Cleo looked down and noticed that he totally squished Riley. "Oh! Sorry." Cleo immediately got off and sat down. "Are you going to be okay?" Cleo tilted his head to the side like a kitten. "I didn't mean to hurt you... I think we should stop playing tag for now." Cleo looked up at the sky. "The stars are starting to come out" Cleo looked over at Riley. "Wanna look for constellations with me?" Cleo fell onto his back. "First to find the big dipper wins!"

Riley sat up painfully. " I'm okay." he said with a smile although his knee hurt really bad. He rold over next to Cleo and looked at the sky. Night was his favourite time of the day. "The Big Dipper?.... Is that the one that looks like a big spoon?" Riley didn't know a lot about constellations but he remembered reading a book about slaves who followed the tip on a giant spoon to Canada.
Riley read a lot of books but almost never watched t.v or movies. He liked historical books so if anyone every quoted a movie of fitional novel he always answered with - I don't know what that means-. Riley liked playing with Cleo, it made him feel like he really belonged somewhere. He wasn't used to that. He always sat alone and being beside someone felt different.
"Hey Cleo?" He asked shyly "Do you think we could hang out more often?"

Cleo laughed loudly. "No! It's not a spoon, it's a soup ladle. Or a pot. But not in the shape of a spoon, there more around." Cleo looked around. All he could really see was a few misfit stars and the blinking lights of an airplane. "It should be coming out soon." Cleo watched the sky intently but couldn't help but smile when he heard Riley's words. Cleo could hardly contain his happiness. He had made a new friend and he wanted to hang out with him more often. "Yeah! Certainly! I'd love to hang out with you more often!"
Cleo wanted to jump up and down and start shouting his happiness to the stars. The only friend he ever really had was, "Evan," Cleo whispered. He had forgotten what had just happened a few days ago with Evan. Cleo sat up. "Oh god dammit..." Cleo breathed. He shook his head. How would he tell his new friend? Would he even tell his new friend at all? Well he should. Cleo turned his attention to Riley. "I should tell you something," Cleo took in a deep breath, he was really trying to be serious. "Your the second friend that I've ever had."
Cleo looked up at the sky again. "My first friend I had when I was four named Evan. He was my best friend for fourteen years. We would do everything together, school, play dates, nights out, shopping evrything..." Cleo's voice died off. "And well, I just don't want the same thing to happen." Cleo tried to smile but couldn't. "I'm sorry, I can't say it, I still haven't accepted it, but you can probably guess what happened."

Riley sat quietly, he felt bad for Cleo. Riley knew what it was like to loose someone you love. Riley scoffed...he hadn't thought about it in a while but after his mom diee he never really loved anyone. Riley woundered if he should tell Cleo what he was, He knew that most humans would run away screaming, in fear of having there souls stolen but Cleo did not seem like that kind of human.
"Since we are telling personal stories I think there is something you should know," Riley took a deep breath, "I am a Demon, A Shadow Demon." Riley looked Cleo in the eyes,"Do you understand?" Riley hoped that Cleo would not run away, he was the firat human friend he had ever had and most likly ever would have. Riley was starting to feel nervus aboout what he had told Cleo. "I'm sorry for waisting you time he said quietly as he turned away, " I understand if you want to leave."

Cleo just realized that he made it see that Evan died! Oh fiddle sticks! Cleo didn't mean for it come out like that. He just wanted to make sure that he JUST wanted to be his friend. Not like Evan would wanted more then just friend ship. Of course Cleo is still friends with Evan, but he just has to be very careful since Evan still trys. Cleo would have to make this right. "Well, uh, you see.... this is really awkward but," Cleo sighed and deiced to just leave it at that. But it will be REALLY awkward, if Riley and Evan ever met.
"I think I see the big Dipper!" Cleo exclaimed. He turned happily to Riley but didn't see a smile on his face. Cleo wondered if he did something wrong. But then, he heard Riley words. About how he was a demon and about the crash. Cleo stared at Riley intently. Cleo slowly rose up form the ground. Even after he was done talking Cleo continued to look at him. "Wow..." Was all he said.Cleo grabbed Riley's hand and pulled him slowly back down to the ground. Cleo put a hand on Riley's head and brushed his fingers through his rough hair, again and again. It's like he was grooming him. Cleo stopped abruptly half way through another stroke. Cleo looked at Riley intensely.
Cleo planted his hands firmly on the ground beside Riley. He bent his body into wards Riley forcing Riley to fall onto his back. Cleo bent down even further and sniffed Riley's shirt. Cleo looked deep into Riley's eyes again. "I believe you." He calmly stated. Cleo pulled his hands off the ground and let his body fall onto Riley. Cleo let out a deep sigh. Wind blew at his hair gently as the hidden fireflies in the field started showing off their lights. "You... are.. so," Cleo stopped and lifted his head up to see Riley's face. "COOL!!!" Cleo shouted at the top of his lungs. Cleo started to laugh madly and rolled off Riley.
"You are so cool! So cool!" He repeated. "I made friends with a shadow demon!" Cleo started to skip around. "Wait a minute!" Cleo stopped and turned to Riley. "Are you even real?" Cleo Dropped his hand down to Riley's level and pulled at his face. "WOW! You are real!" Cleo shrilled. He began to laugh again. "Sorry about that," Cleo took in a deep breath. "Well, if you were that honest with me, I might as well tell you what you should know." Cleo poked himself in the head. "I was officially dubbed crazy at the age of twelve!" Cleo jumped up and down. "I'm not crazy as stab people or write many poems that don't make sense. I'm the kind of crazy that sees things that aren't there. So now you realize why I had to make sure you were real.!"
"I'll understand if you look at me differently now." Cleo tilted his head to the side and stopped jumping. "It's all cool though! Oh maybe I should also tell you that my parents are two gay men. But I don't think I'm gay, I'm not sure. Maybe I should tell you that my friend Evan didn't die, but tried to come on to me. Maybe I should tell you I'm a straight A student, in a normal school, not a special school. Maybe I should tell you I like to sow things and go shopping. Maybe I should tell you that I really, really love the night!" Cleo stopped to take in a deep breath. "Maybe I told you too much?"

Riley sat there trying to take in all the information that Cleo had just spit out at him. "UM......well.......okay." Riley didn't know what to say, he did not want to reveal that much of his life to someone he had just met but he also thought that it would be rude not to tell Cleo a little more about himself.
"I think it is cool that you parents are Gay." Riley believed that everyone should be with the one that they love even if they are the same sex. "I live with foster Dad, his name is Ken, my brother used to live with us but he moved out three months ago." Riley liked that fact that Cleo goes to school, he loved school and it would be nice to have someone to talk to between classes. "What school do you go to?
"Hey, Do you want to see a neat trick?" Riley raised one had to chest hight and produced a shadow ball. He than made two more and stared to juggle. "Ken says I should join the circus but I don't think I want to." Riley looked over to see what Cleo was doing but he couldn't tell what the expression on Cleo's face meant.

Cleo let out a laughter that was quite welcomed. It bellowed out his stomach and rattled his ribs, shaking his teeth as it escaped. He felt so relived. Riley trusted him enough to just blurt out random facts about himself as well. Cleo could really feel that Riley wanted to be his friend, and not someone who wanted to be his friend out pity or hatred just top betray him afterwards. Cleo's happy face is always on, but ya, he's had his share of hardships too. Riley was quite an interesting character too. "I wish I cloud juggle. But Charles say that it would be just another way for me to break something."
Cleo sat down on the ground. "Wow! Look at all the stars now!" Cleo pointed up at the sky. He gazed at the brightly lit night sky. It was amazing to know that the sky itself was dark, but with the help of very tiny friends, it could shine just as beautiful as the morning sun. Cleo looked at the night sky for encouragement. It was his only friend at night, and he felt some how connected to it. It was strange and almost ill, just like him. Cleo shook his head and smacked himself across the face. "Ah!" Cleo freaked out and started to run in circles. "Oh my gosh! You bugger Alex!" Cleo shouted. "He scared the living day lights out of me!"
Cleo stopped and pointed a finger at the white tiger that only Cleo could see. The tiger started to laugh. "It's not funny to sneak up on me like that."
The tiger got up and started off into the forest. "You were getting to depressed. Cheer up, don't let this friendship get off on the wrong foot." The tiger named Alex purred. Cleo was about to say something back but he was gone. Cleo quickly realized that he was making a scene, even though no one else was around. "Sorry about that." Cleo fell back down. "So, let's continue our quest in the stars. Can you find the great bear?"

Riley stair at Cleo, he figured that he was talking to one of his illusions so Riley decided not to interrupt them. Riley wanted to know more about Cleo's family, he had never really had a real family and wondered what it would be like. When Cleo finally sat back down he mentioned something about a Great Bear. "Great Bear?" muttered Riley, "What is the great bear? " Just then he remembered that he had borrowed a astronomy book from the Library. He got up and ran to were he had left his backpack. Only after he reached it he realized that he should have told Cleo were he was going. " I'll be right back!" He shouted hoping that Cleo would not leave. A couple of minutes later he returned with the book in his hands. It was titled 'Stars: Pictures in the Sky'. Riley quickly skimmed the pages until he found the page titled The Great Bear. On the page there was a picture of the constellation and directions on how to find it. Riley started to read it when he suddenly realized that it would be an unfair advantage so he studied the picture for a moment and then closed the book without reading the instructions. " How off tan do you look at the stars?" He asked Cleo in almost a whisper. Riley was a Little embarrassed at the fact that someone with the mind of an eight year old knows more about stars than him when he spends most of his time in the library reading books about everything you could imagine. Riley looked at Cleo as he waited for an answer, he looked so happy, Riley didn't know if he was preserving him right but he looked like he could be the happiest person in the world. Riley looked away and stared at the sky. "I found it!!!!!!" Riley couldn't believe it. "It's right there." He said pointing to a group of start to the left of them. "Is that it??"

Cleo giggled. "It basically looks like a big bear. Like in it's name. It has an even fancier name but I forget it." Cleo observed the night sky and started to whistle a tune. He was whistling the song 'What is love.' He had recently learned the tune and couldn't get it out of his head. "Ah! I got a song stuck in my head." Cleo looked over to Riley, but he was no where to be found. Cleo jolted up. "Riley!!" He shouted. But thankfully Cleo heard Riley off in the distance saying he'd be back. Cleo stood up, he almost felt abandoned, but he knew Riley would be coming back.
Cleo looked around the field and took a deep breath of the the night air. It was cool and calm air all around him. He felt like he needed sleep, a deep sleep. Cleo started to spin around, and around. He then started to spin while hopping on one foot, but quickly fell down. Cleo felt sick but he still laughed. He tilted his side to the side, just to see Riley returning. "Hey oh!" Cleo exclaimed. "I fell down and bumped my head!"
Cleo looked back up at the sky, but looked back at Riley when he said he found the bear. "Wow. That was quick..." Cleo's voice trailed off. "Hey, Riley, what kind of life do you lead as a shadow demon? Is it full of hatred and killing sprees? Is it filled with darkness and sadness? Or is just a normal life, but with cool powers?" Cleo sighed. "I won't think any different of you then I already do. I like the you I know now, and I don't think your past or your present can change that." Cleo smiled and gave a weak laugh. "If you tell me, I'll tell you anything you'd like to know, and it doesn't have to be about me even."

Riley did not know how to answer the question, he closed his eyes to think for a minute. "hMMMMM, I have never really been asked anything like that before, this will take some serious thinking......." Riley hoped that what he said conveyed to Cleo that he was going to answer the question but he needed some time to think. A few minutes later Riley felt ready to answer.
" Living life as a shadow demon is almost like being normal, for me anyway. Other demons go on killing sprees but I like to stay out of the public eye." Riley looked over at Cleo to ensure that he was still listening. "I should tell you that I am being hunted, when my older brother dumped his girlfriend she took it really personal and when she found out that I was a demon she got it into her head that I had possessed my brother and made him dump her. She got really angry and hired a group of hunters from our old town to kill me." Riley glanced at Cleo for a second time. " I can stop at any time if you want?" When Cleo didn't answer Riley continued. At the time me and my brother were living with our foster dad Ken. Later that year Kris moved out and me and Ken were forced to move due to the hunters. One of them followed me to Kantum and I am always on Gard." Riley paused again, "Anyway, I am really not evil at all... sorry if you were expecting a life of killing and evilness, I have only ever kill three people in my time as a demon. All three of them were hunters who at the time were trying to kill me. I have spent my like correcting knowledge and learning how my powers work. for example I can, hurl energy balls of darkness, vanish into shadows and engulf my enemies in giant energy balls."
Riley was glad that he had been able to answer Cleo's question. He hoped that Cleo was satisfied with the answer. "OK, now it;s your turn..... What is it like to live with a real family?"

Cleo listened intently to Riley's story. He didn't want to miss a word of it. So this is what it must be like to be a shadow demon. Cleo nodded every time Riley looked over and clapped and the end of his life story. "You have lived more of an interesting life then I have!" Cleo exclaimed. Cleo looked up at the sky. "I'm sorry to tell you but, my family life is far from normal." Cleo crossed his fingers and stuck his hands together. He quickly had created a dog. "Bark, bark!" Cleo said softly. "Anyway," Cleo unraveled his hands. "I might as well tell about Charles and William first."
Cleo looked at Riley. "Well Charles, he's like the mom of the house. He stays at home, cooks the meals, cleans the house and writes stories in his spare time. Even though he's not actually a real writter, he still likes to write." Cleo took in a deep breath and continued. "Then there's William. He's like the dad of the family. He works at a large cooperation, I can't remember what they do there, but he's vice-chief of the cooperation. He likes to play broad games, read, spend family time together. You know, all that stereotypical fatherly like stuff." Cleo smiled. "We all get along just fine. None of us are blood related, but we are all really close. I also have a blood related mother, she's nice. But I never really see her. The only reason I don't live with her, is that she couldn't support me and William and Charles, her close friends, wanted a kid. So I live with them!"
Cleo crossed his legs. "It's all cool though. We live well, and we all have a blast everyday!" Cleo smacked himself on his forehead. "I should tell you about my friends that I see, that no one else does. There part of the family to me. There's Sam, he's a giant teddy bear," Cleo extend his arms to show the size of Sam. "He wears a Surelock Homes hat! There's also Alex and Dywan, there two white tigers. And sometimes there's others but they don't around a lot." Cleo laughed. "And well, that's my family!"
